The Bear, formerly The Bear and Ragged Staff, is a wonderful pub partly because of its beautiful 16th century historic building, but also because it houses a myriad of intimate and open space for dining creating atmosphere and character. The menu has excellent choice and is fairly priced for the quality of food. The Bear's staff are very helpful, not always easy given its (deserved) popularity. This is a calm, friendly and attractive pub. Recommended.
